Hannah Flowers presents Harps of Éire, Jan 23

7:30pm. Free to the public.

The Irish community and friends are invited to enjoy this performance showcasing Ms. Flowers on the Cláirseach, the ancient Gaelic wire-strung harp, and the modern Irish lever harp, and song. She is joined by Mattie Ernst on fiddle and harp, Ann Heymann on cláirseach, Charlie Heymann on cittern, and David Ochs on fiddle and dance.

“This will be an evening of harp and song celebrating the harping tradition of Ireland,” said Flowers. There will be songs in both Irish and English; it will be a casual event.

The concert is the culmination of Flowers’ study abroad experience last summer funded by a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council. She studied historical harp techniques with leading teachers and scholars at the Scoil na gCláirseach in Kilkenny, Ireland.
