I define myself as an artist because it provides a framework for every part of myself.
The Christian in me understands art as a worshipful mimicry of God's act of creation. The naturalist in me understands art as a fulfillment of the biological desire to reproduce. The existentialist in me understands art as a way to distance myself from other people. The Objectivist in me understands art as the arranging of physical matter to suit my metaphysical viewpoint.
Nearly two years ago, I did an illustration for a poem entitled "Blackbirds".
Since then, a majority of my art has continued in that direction, exploring the connection I feel between avian life and my own spirit. I'm addicted to drawing, to creating, to capturing beauty. I perceive each drawing as a new challenge, and I'm driven by the satisfaction that comes from finishing it.
As far as the future is concerned, I plan to draw as much as I can, and pursue opportunities to work on different projects alongside other artists.
